Vulnerability Overview

wp-includes/comment.php in WordPress before 3.0.2 does not properly whitelist trackbacks and pingbacks in the blogroll, which allows remote attackers to bypass intended spam restrictions via a crafted URL, as demonstrated by a URL that triggers a substring match.

REMEDIATION: Update to version 3.0.2, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-639 (Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key) The system's authorization functionality does not prevent one user from gaining access to another user's data or record by modifying the key value identifying the data.
