Terms of Service
Last Updated: June 14, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the WordSec website, plugin, API, and related services (together, the "Service"), operated by WordSec ("WordSec", "we", "us"). By accessing the website, obtaining a license key, or installing the plugin, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Definitions
In these Terms:
- "Service" means the WordSec website, the WordPress plugin, the API, and the vulnerability database.
- "Plugin" means the WordSec software you install on your WordPress site.
- "License Key" means the free or paid key that activates the Plugin's features.
- "Account" means the records associated with your email address and license.
- "You" means the individual or entity using the Service.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, and able to enter into a binding contract to use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind that organization to these Terms.
4. Description of the Service
WordSec provides WordPress security tooling, including a firewall, malware scanner, login security, activity logging, and a vulnerability database with threat intelligence. We offer a free tier and paid plans, and we may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will detect or prevent every threat.
5. Accounts & License Keys
To use certain features you need a license key. You are responsible for your Account and license, and you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current information when registering.
- Keep your license key and credentials confidential.
- Use your license only within the scope of the plan you purchased.
- Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your Account or license.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the Service. In particular, you must not:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of others' rights.
- Copy, resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service or license keys except as expressly permitted by your license or applicable open-source terms.
- Use our vulnerability data to attack, exploit, or test any system you do not own or are not explicitly authorized to test.
- Reverse engineer, circumvent, or interfere with security controls, rate limits, or license validation.
- Make automated, excessive, or abusive use of the API or infrastructure.
7. Payment, Renewal & Refunds
Paid plans are sold and billed through our payment provider. By purchasing, you also agree to that provider's terms:
- Payments are processed by Paddle, which acts as the Merchant of Record and handles billing, taxes, and invoicing.
- Subscriptions renew automatically for the chosen period until you cancel.
- You may cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the paid period.
- Refunds are handled according to Paddle's terms and your mandatory consumer rights under applicable law.
8. License to Use the Software
Subject to these Terms and your active plan, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Plugin on the websites permitted by your plan. WordPress plugin code that is distributed under the GNU General Public License (GPL) is provided to you under that license; other components, the API, our database, branding, and cloud services remain proprietary to WordSec.
9. Intellectual Property
Except for GPL-licensed plugin code and other third-party components, all content, software, trademarks, and the vulnerability database that make up the Service are owned by WordSec or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you.
10. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third parties, including Paddle (payments), Cloudflare (security and delivery), PostHog (analytics), and email providers, and may interact with the WordPress.org ecosystem. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. WordSec is a security tool that reduces risk but cannot guarantee that your website will never be compromised. You remain responsible for maintaining backups and for the overall security and operation of your website. Nothing in this section limits warranties that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WordSec shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits, or business, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Mandatory consumer rights under applicable law are not affected.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold WordSec harmless from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising out of your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any law or third-party right.
14. Suspension & Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms, misuse the Service, or where required by law. You may stop using the Service at any time. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; provisions that by their nature should survive (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the "Last Updated" date above and, for material changes, give reasonable notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
16. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts and enforcement offices of Türkiye shall have jurisdiction over any dispute, except where mandatory consumer-protection law grants you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence, which remains unaffected.
