Vulnerability Overview

The Ads by WPQuads – Adsense Ads, Banner Ads, Popup Ads plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized access due to a missing capability check on the quads_send_feedback() function in versions up to, and including, 2.0.84. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to send feedback data.

CWE-862: Missing Authorization

Quads Ads Manager for Google AdSense <= 2.0.84 carries this weakness at quads_send_feedback(), and reaching it takes a caller who can reach the endpoint. A missing authorization check means a function is reachable by anyone who can reach the endpoint, because the code never asks whether the caller is allowed to perform the action.

Any user who can reach the endpoint gets to run an action reserved for higher-privileged roles, from reading protected data to changing settings or content. For Quads Ads Manager for Google AdSense the fix is 2.0.85: builds <= 2.0.84 are affected, anything from 2.0.85 onward is not.

Update to version 2.0.85, or a newer patched version
