Funnelforms Free <= 3.7.3.2 - Authenticated (Administrator+) Arbitrary File Deletion
Strategic Overview
<= 3.7.3.2CVE-2024-6312Vulnerability Overview
The Funnelforms Free plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file deletion in all versions up to, and including, 3.7.3.2 via the 'af2DeleteFontFile' function. This is due to the plugin not properly validating a file or its path prior to deleting it. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with administrator-level access and above, to delete arbitrary files, including the wp-config.php file, which can make site takeover and remote code execution possible.
Technical Analysis
REMEDIATION: Update to version 3.7.4.1, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-22 (Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal')) The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory.
