Vulnerability Overview

The Careerfy theme for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass & Cross-Site Request Forgery in versions up to, and including, 7.0. This is due to missing nonce validation and capability checks on several functions. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with minimal permissions such as a subscriber, to trigger several AJAX actions that can perform operations like importing jobs and modifyig custom settings. This can also be exploited via CSRF.

CWE-862: Missing Authorization

Reaching this weakness in Careerfy - Job Board WordPress Theme <= 7.0 takes a caller who can reach the endpoint. A missing authorization check means a function is reachable by anyone who can reach the endpoint, because the code never asks whether the caller is allowed to perform the action.

Any user who can reach the endpoint gets to run an action reserved for higher-privileged roles, from reading protected data to changing settings or content. For Careerfy - Job Board WordPress Theme the fix is 7.1.0: builds <= 7.0 are affected, anything from 7.1.0 onward is not.
