Vulnerability Overview

The Photo Engine plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Insecure Direct Object Reference in versions up to, and including, 6.2.5. This is due to missing validation on a user controlled key within the ajax_generate_auth_token function. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to generate authentication tokens on behalf of another user.

Technical Analysis

REMEDIATION: Update to version 6.2.6, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-639 (Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key) The system's authorization functionality does not prevent one user from gaining access to another user's data or record by modifying the key value identifying the data.
