The WP Private Message plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to insecure direct object reference in versions up to, and including, 1.0.6. This is due to insufficient validation on a user-controlled key identifying private messages between users. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with subscriber-level capabilities and above to read arbitrary messages.

REMEDIATION: Update to version 1.0.6, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-639 (Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key) The system's authorization functionality does not prevent one user from gaining access to another user's data or record by modifying the key value identifying the data.
