Vulnerability Overview

The WP phpMyAdmin plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to reflected Cross-Site Scripting in versions up to, and including 5.2.0.3 due to the use of add_query_arg with insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages via a URL that executes if they can successfully trick a user into performing an action such as clicking on a link.

Technical Analysis

REMEDIATION: Update to version 5.2.0.4, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')) The product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users.
