Vulnerability Overview

The WP Photo Album Plus plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file uploads due to missing file type validation in the wppa_user_upload() function in all versions up to, and including, 8.6.03.004. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to upload arbitrary files on the affected site's server which may make remote code execution possible.

REMEDIATION: Update to version 8.6.03.005, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-434 (Unrestricted Upload of File with Dangerous Type) The product allows the upload or transfer of dangerous file types that are automatically processed within its environment.
