Vulnerability Overview

Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in the getip function in wp-limit-login-attempts.php in the WP Limit Login Attempts plugin before 2.0.1 for WordPress allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the (1) X-Forwarded-For or (2) Client-IP HTTP header.

Reaching this weakness in WP Limit Login Attempts < 2.0.1 takes a caller who can reach the endpoint. SQL injection happens when request data is concatenated into a query instead of being bound as a parameter, letting an attacker change the structure of the statement rather than just its values.

A working injection can read any table the database user can see, which on a WordPress install means user records, password hashes and session or API secrets stored in options. For WP Limit Login Attempts the fix is 2.0.1: builds < 2.0.1 are affected, anything from 2.0.1 onward is not.
