Vulnerability Overview

The Iptanus File Upload plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to limited file overwrites in all versions up to, and including, 5.1.6. This is due to a race condition. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to overwrite files uploaded by other users.

Technical Analysis

The vector marks this flaw as remotely reachable over the network, with low attack complexity — no special timing or configuration is needed, and no privileges on the target site, and no interaction from a victim user.

CWE-362: Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')

The product contains a concurrent code sequence that requires temporary, exclusive access to a shared resource, but a timing window exists in which the shared resource can be modified by another code sequence operating concurrently.

Remediation

Update to version 5.1.7, or a newer patched version

How does WordSec protect against this?

This one needs no account at all, which puts it outside what login hardening can reach; WordSec's login security narrows the account-level paths around it, and the firewall is what inspects the request itself. None of that substitutes for the fix: Iptanus File Upload 5.1.7 closes this, and updating the plugin is the step that ends it.
