Vulnerability Overview

The WP Dashboard Notes plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Insecure Direct Object Reference in all versions up to, and including, 1.0.10 via the 'post_id' parameter due to missing validation on a user controlled key. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers to delete private notes associated with other user accounts.

Technical Analysis

REMEDIATION: Update to version 1.0.11, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-639 (Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key) The system's authorization functionality does not prevent one user from gaining access to another user's data or record by modifying the key value identifying the data.
