Vulnerability Overview

A Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability was discovered in the Yoast SEO WordPress plugin before 3.4.1, which had built-in blacklist filters which were blacklisting parentheses as well as several functions such as alert, but bypasses were found.

Technical Analysis

REMEDIATION: Update to version 3.4.1, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')) The product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users.
