Vulnerability Overview

The security scanner that prevents XXE attacks in the XLSX reader can be bypassed by slightly modifying the XML structure, utilizing white spaces. On servers that allow users to upload their own Excel (XLSX) sheets, Server files, and sensitive information can be disclosed by providing a crafted sheet.

How does WordSec protect against this?

The attempt arrives as an ordinary request to Visualizer: WordSec's web application firewall inspects request payloads before WordPress loads them. None of that substitutes for the fix: Visualizer 3.11.7 closes this, and updating the plugin is the step that ends it.
