Vulnerability Overview

The Videojs HTML5 Player plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via shortcodes (such as 'url', 'ogv', 'poster', 'webm') handled by the ‘videojs_html5_video_embed_handler’ function in versions up to, and including, 1.1.8 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for contributor-level attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.

Technical Analysis

REMEDIATION: Update to version 1.1.9, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')) The product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users.
