At a glance

CVE-2026-3360 is a high-severity Missing Authorization vulnerability in the Tutor LMS WordPress plugin, affecting versions <= 3.9.7. It carries a CVSS score of 7.5 (reachable over the network; low attack complexity; high integrity impact). Exploitation requires no authentication. The issue is fixed in version 3.9.8; sites on affected versions should update now. Disclosed April 2026, reported by Supakiad S. (m3ez).

Vulnerability Overview

The Tutor LMS – eLearning and online course solution plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to an Insecure Direct Object Reference in all versions up to, and including, 3.9.7. This is due to missing authentication and authorization checks in the `pay_incomplete_order()` function. The function accepts an attacker-controlled `order_id` parameter and uses it to look up order data, then writes billing fields to the order owner's profile (`$order_data->user_id`) without verifying the requester's identity or ownership. Because the Tutor nonce (`_tutor_nonce`) is exposed on public frontend pages, this makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to overwrite the billing profile (name, email, phone, address) of any user who has an incomplete manual order, by sending a crafted POST request with a guessed or enumerated `order_id`.

Technical Analysis

The vector marks this flaw as remotely reachable over the network, with low attack complexity — no special timing or configuration is needed, and no privileges on the target site, and no interaction from a victim user. A successful exploit has high impact on integrity.

CWE-862: Missing Authorization

Tutor LMS <= 3.9.7 carries this weakness at pay_incomplete_order(), and reaching it takes no account at all. A missing authorization check means a function is reachable by anyone who can reach the endpoint, because the code never asks whether the caller is allowed to perform the action.

Any user who can reach the endpoint gets to run an action reserved for higher-privileged roles, from reading protected data to changing settings or content. For Tutor LMS the fix is 3.9.8: builds <= 3.9.7 are affected, anything from 3.9.8 onward is not.

Remediation

Update to version 3.9.8, or a newer patched version

How does WordSec protect against this?

This one needs no account at all, which puts it outside what login hardening can reach; WordSec's login security narrows the account-level paths around it, and the firewall is what inspects the request itself. None of that substitutes for the fix: Tutor LMS 3.9.8 closes this, and updating the plugin is the step that ends it.
