The Tutor LMS Pro plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized access of data, modification of data, loss of data due to a missing capability check on the 'authenticate' function in all versions up to, and including, 2.7.0. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level permissions and above, to gain control of an existing administrator account.
Technical Analysis
REMEDIATION: Update to version 2.7.1, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-89 (Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command ('SQL Injection')) The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.
