Vulnerability Overview

The Tumult Hype Animations plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file uploads due to insufficient file type validation in the hypeanimations_panel_upload() functionin all versions up to, and including, 1.9.12. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with author-level access and above, to upload arbitrary files on the affected site's server which may make remote code execution possible.

REMEDIATION: Update to version 1.9.13, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-434 (Unrestricted Upload of File with Dangerous Type) The product allows the upload or transfer of dangerous file types that are automatically processed within its environment.
