Vulnerability Overview

The Transposh WordPress Translation plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to remote code execution in versions up to, and including, 1.0.9.1. This is due to insufficient extension validation on the log file that can be created via the plugin. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with administrative level permissions and above to set the log file extension to .php and then update a setting to log PHP executable code to that file which can be used to achieve remote code execution.

Reaching this weakness in Transposh WordPress Translation <= 1.0.9.1 takes a caller who can reach the endpoint. An unrestricted file upload lets a caller store a file whose type or destination the application does not properly constrain.

If an uploaded file lands anywhere the server will execute, the flaw becomes remote code execution and the site should be treated as fully compromised. For Transposh WordPress Translation the fix is 1.0.9.2: builds <= 1.0.9.1 are affected, anything from 1.0.9.2 onward is not.
