Vulnerability Overview

The Subscribers Text Counter plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery in versions up to, and including, 1.7. This is due to missing nonce validation in the subscribers-text-counter-admin.php file. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to modify the plugin's settings and inject malicious web scripts via a forged request granted they can trick a site administrator into performing an action such as clicking on a link.

Technical Analysis

REMEDIATION: Update to version 1.7.1, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-352 (Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF)) The web application does not, or cannot, sufficiently verify whether a request was intentionally provided by the user who sent the request, which could have originated from an unauthorized actor.
