Vulnerability Overview

The Snow Monkey Forms plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Directory Traversal in versions up to, and including, 5.1.1 via the 'view' REST endpoint. This allows unauthenticated attackers to upload files with randomized names and non-executable extensions to arbitrary folders.

Technical Analysis

REMEDIATION: Update to version 5.1.2, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-22 (Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal')) The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory.
