Vulnerability Overview

The Simple Event Planner plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the ‘&custom[add_seg][]’ parameter in versions up to, and including, 1.5.4 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for Contributor-level attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.

Technical Analysis

REMEDIATION: Update to version 1.5.5, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')) The product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users.
