Vulnerability Overview

The Reales WP STPT plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized user registration in all versions up to, and including, 2.1.2. This is due to the 'reales_user_signup_form' AJAX action not verifying if user registration is enabled, prior to registering a user. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to create new user accounts, which can be leveraged with CVE-XX to achieve privilege escalation.

Reales WP STPT <= 2.1.2 carries this weakness at reales_user_signup_form, and reaching it takes a caller who can reach the endpoint. Incorrect authorization means a permission check exists but evaluates the wrong thing, so it passes for callers it was meant to stop.

The action runs for users the code intended to exclude, with the same effect as having no check at all. No fixed build of this plugin is recorded for Reales WP STPT yet, so installs running <= 2.1.2 stay exposed until the vendor ships one.
