Vulnerability Overview

The Quiz And Survey Master plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass due to a missing user validations on the qsm_clear_audit_data function in versions up to, and including, 7.3.10. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to invoke this function and clear audit log data.

CWE-862: Missing Authorization

Reaching this weakness in Quiz and Survey Master (QSM) <= 7.3.10 takes a caller who can reach the endpoint. A missing authorization check means a function is reachable by anyone who can reach the endpoint, because the code never asks whether the caller is allowed to perform the action.

Any user who can reach the endpoint gets to run an action reserved for higher-privileged roles, from reading protected data to changing settings or content. For Quiz and Survey Master (QSM) the fix is 7.3.11: builds <= 7.3.10 are affected, anything from 7.3.11 onward is not.

Update to version 7.3.11, or a newer patched version
