Vulnerability Overview

The LoginWP (Formerly Peter's Login Redirect) WordPress plugin before 3.0.0.5 does not sanitise and escape the rul_login_url and rul_logout_url parameter before outputting them back in attributes in an admin page, leading to a Reflected Cross-Site Scripting issue

Reaching this weakness in LoginWP (Formerly Peter's Login Redirect) < 3.0.0.5 takes a caller who can reach the endpoint. Cross-site scripting happens when input from a request is written into a page without being escaped for the context it lands in, so the browser parses attacker-supplied text as markup or script.

Injected script runs with the privileges of whoever views the affected page, which is how these flaws turn into administrator session theft, silent account creation or persistent backdoors in page content. For LoginWP (Formerly Peter's Login Redirect) the fix is 3.0.0.5: builds < 3.0.0.5 are affected, anything from 3.0.0.5 onward is not.
