Vulnerability Overview

The Modal Survey plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to PHP Object Injection in versions up to, and including, 2.0.1.8 via deserialization of untrusted input using the unserialize() function. This allows authenticated attackers to inject a PHP Object. The additional presence of a POP chain allows attackers to remotely trigger commands and read, updated, and/or delete files.

Technical Analysis

REMEDIATION: Update to version 2.0.1.8.2, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-502 (Deserialization of Untrusted Data) The product deserializes untrusted data without sufficiently ensuring that the resulting data will be valid.
