Vulnerability Overview

The Kirki – Freeform Page Builder, Website Builder & Customizer plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Directory Traversal in all versions up to, and including, 6.0.13 via the 'family' parameter. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with editor-level access and above, to delete arbitrary directories on the server, which can result in loss of data and availability.

Technical Analysis

REMEDIATION: Update to version 6.0.14, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-22 (Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal')) The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory.
