At a glance

CVE-2026-110885 is a medium-severity Improper Input Validation vulnerability in the HivePress WordPress plugin, affecting versions <= 1.7.32. It carries a CVSS score of 6.5 (reachable over the network; low attack complexity; high integrity impact). Exploitation requires an authenticated account at Subscriber level or above. The issue is fixed in version 1.8.0; sites on affected versions should update now. Disclosed October 2026, reported by changsheng.

Vulnerability Overview

The HivePress – Business Directory, Listings & Classified Ads Plugin plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Remote Code Execution in all versions up to, and including, 1.7.32. This is due to insufficient sanitization of user-controlled token values substituted into href, src, action, and style HTML attributes within field display templates, allowing javascript: URLs and arbitrary CSS to pass through unescaped. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to inject arbitrary content including JavaScript URLs or CSS expressions into page output via field display templates, allowing code execution in the context of other users' browsers. An attacker must be able to submit listing or attribute field values that are rendered using a display template containing URL or style attributes.

Technical Analysis

The vector marks this flaw as remotely reachable over the network, with low attack complexity — no special timing or configuration is needed, and no interaction from a victim user. A successful exploit has high impact on integrity.

CWE-20: Improper Input Validation

Reaching this weakness in HivePress <= 1.7.32 takes an account at Subscriber level or above. Improper input validation means the application accepts input without confirming it has the form, type or range the code downstream assumes.

The concrete impact depends on where the unvalidated value lands, which is why records in this class range from cosmetic bugs to full compromise. For HivePress the fix is 1.8.0: builds <= 1.7.32 are affected, anything from 1.8.0 onward is not.

Remediation

Update to version 1.8.0, or a newer patched version

How does WordSec protect against this?

An attacker needs Subscriber access first, so the firewall sees the attempt as traffic from a logged-in account: WordSec's web application firewall inspects request payloads before WordPress loads them. None of that substitutes for the fix: HivePress 1.8.0 closes this, and updating the plugin is the step that ends it.
