Gmedia Photo Gallery <= 1.6.4 - Open Proxy
Strategic Overview
< 1.6.5CVE-2015-4339Vulnerability Overview
The Gmedia Photo Gallery plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Open Proxy attacks in versions up to, and including, 1.6.4. This is due to inclusion of a script intended to load images from a url that doesn't end in an image file extension. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to proxy through the server and perform anonymized attacks on other servers.
Technical Analysis
REMEDIATION: Update to version 1.6.5, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-441 (Unintended Proxy or Intermediary ('Confused Deputy')) The product receives a request, message, or directive from an upstream component, but the product does not sufficiently preserve the original source of the request before forwarding the request to an external actor that is outside of the product's control sphere. This causes the product to appear to be the source of the request, leading it to act as a proxy or other intermediary between the upstream component and the external actor.
