Vulnerability Overview

The Getwid – Gutenberg Blocks plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized arbitrary email sending due to insufficient limitations on the content of emails sent in all versions up to, and including, 2.0.2. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to send emails to the site admin with arbitrary content from the site.

The concrete impact depends on where the unvalidated value lands, which is why records in this class range from cosmetic bugs to full compromise. For Getwid the fix is 2.0.3: builds <= 2.0.2 are affected, anything from 2.0.3 onward is not.

Update to version 2.0.3, or a newer patched version

How does WordSec protect against this?

The attempt arrives as an ordinary request to Getwid: WordSec's web application firewall inspects request payloads before WordPress loads them. None of that substitutes for the fix: Getwid 2.0.3 closes this, and updating the plugin is the step that ends it.
