Vulnerability Overview

Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in VastHTML Forum Server (aka ForumPress) plugin 1.6.1 and 1.6.5 for WordPress allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the (1) search_max parameter in a search action to index.php, which is not properly handled by wpf.class.php, (2) id parameter in an editpost action to index.php, which is not properly handled by wpf-post.php, or (3) topic parameter to feed.php.

Technical Analysis

REMEDIATION: Update to version 1.6.6, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-89 (Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command ('SQL Injection')) The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.
