Vulnerability Overview

There was a flaw in the WordPress plugin, Email Subscribers & Newsletters before 4.3.1, that allowed SQL statements to be passed to the database in the hash parameter (a blind SQL injection vulnerability).

Technical Analysis

REMEDIATION: Update to version 4.3.1, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-89 (Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command ('SQL Injection')) The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.
