Vulnerability Overview

The Email Address Encoder plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's eae_shortcode shortcode in version 1.0.22 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on the 'link' user supplied attribute. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.

Technical Analysis

REMEDIATION: Update to version 1.0.23, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')) The product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users.
