The Easy WP SMTP plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Arbitrary File Deletion versions up to, and including, 1.5.1. This is possibly due to the SMTP import/export functionality. This makes it possible for administrator-level attackers to arbitrarily delete files on the server, including critical files for the website's functionality.
Technical Analysis
REMEDIATION: Update to version 1.5.2, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-22 (Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal')) The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory.
