Vulnerability Overview

The Contact Form 7 plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Open Redirect in all versions up to, and including, 2.4. This is due to insufficient validation on a redirect url. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to redirect users to potentially malicious sites if they can successfully trick them into performing an action.

Technical Analysis

REMEDIATION: Update to version 2.5, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-601 (URL Redirection to Untrusted Site ('Open Redirect')) The web application accepts a user-controlled input that specifies a link to an external site, and uses that link in a redirect.
