Vulnerability Overview

The Buddyboss Platform plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Insecure Direct Object Reference in all versions up to, and including, 2.5.91 via the activity_mark_fav AJAX action due to missing validation on a user controlled key. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to like private posts.

Technical Analysis

REMEDIATION: Update to version 2.6.0, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-639 (Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key) The system's authorization functionality does not prevent one user from gaining access to another user's data or record by modifying the key value identifying the data.
