It carries a CVSS score of 5.3 (reachable over the network; low attack complexity). Exploitation requires no authentication. Vulnerability Overview
The Branda – White Label WordPress, Custom Login Page Customizer plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to IP Address Spoofing in all versions up to, and including, 3.4.14 due to insufficient IP address validation and use of user-supplied HTTP headers as a primary method for IP retrieval. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to bypass comment allow/deny lists.
Technical Analysis
The vector marks this flaw as remotely reachable over the network, with low attack complexity — no special timing or configuration is needed, and no privileges on the target site, and no interaction from a victim user.
CWE-348: Use of Less Trusted Source
The product has two different sources of the same data or information, but it uses the source that has less support for verification, is less trusted, or is less resistant to attack.
Remediation
Update to version 3.4.15, or a newer patched version
How does WordSec protect against this?
The attempt arrives as an ordinary request to Branda: WordSec's web application firewall inspects request payloads before WordPress loads them. None of that substitutes for the fix: Branda 3.4.15 closes this, and updating the plugin is the step that ends it.
