Vulnerability Overview

The Starter Templates (free and premium) plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Server-Side Request Forgery in versions up to, and including, 3.2.4 via the remote_request. This can allow authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to make web requests to arbitrary locations originating from the web application and can be used to query and modify information from internal services. CVE-2023-34370 appears to be a duplicate of this.

Technical Analysis

REMEDIATION: Update to version 3.2.5, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-918 (Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF)) The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination.
