Vulnerability Overview
The All-In-One Security (AIOS) – Security and Firewall plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Bypass Vulnerability in all versions up to, and including, 5.4.8. This is due to missing validation on the udrpc_action POST format parameter, allowing requests with format values below 2 to be processed without restriction. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to bypass security controls by sending UDRPC action requests with a format value below 2, gaining unauthorized access to privileged functionality.
Technical Analysis
The vector marks this flaw as remotely reachable over the network, with low attack complexity — no special timing or configuration is needed, and no interaction from a victim user.
CWE-693: Protection Mechanism Failure
The product does not use or incorrectly uses a protection mechanism that provides sufficient defense against directed attacks against the product.
Remediation
Update to version 5.4.9, or a newer patched version
How does WordSec protect against this?
The fix is the thing that ends this: All-In-One Security (AIOS) 5.4.9 closes this, and updating the plugin is the step that ends it.
