Vulnerability Overview

The ActivityPub plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Insecure Direct Object Reference in versions up to, and including, 0.17.0 due to missing validation on a user controlled key. This can allow authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level permissions and above, to expose sensitive post information (e.g., draft and private post content).

Technical Analysis

REMEDIATION: Update to version 1.0.0, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-639 (Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key) The system's authorization functionality does not prevent one user from gaining access to another user's data or record by modifying the key value identifying the data.
