5 Stars Rating Funnel <= 1.2.53 - Unauthenticated SQL Injection
Strategic Overview
<= 1.2.53CVE-2022-0657Vulnerability Overview
The 5 Stars Rating Funnel WordPress Plugin | RRatingg WordPress plugin before 1.2.54 does not properly sanitise, validate and escape lead ids before using them in a SQL statement via the rrtngg_delete_leads AJAX action, available to unauthenticated users, leading to an unauthenticated SQL injection issue. There is an attempt to sanitise the input, using sanitize_text_field(), however such function is not intended to prevent SQL injections.
Technical Analysis
REMEDIATION: Update to version 1.2.54, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-89 (Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command ('SQL Injection')) The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.
