Strategic Overview
< 1.5.1.3CVE-2005-2108Vulnerability Overview
SQL injection vulnerability in XMLRPC server in WordPress 1.5.1.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via input that is not filtered in the HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA variable, which stores the data in an XML file.
Technical Analysis
REMEDIATION: Update to version 1.5.1.3, or a newer patched version --- IDENTIFIER: CWE-89 (Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command ('SQL Injection')) The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.
